yup the Dershowitz one didn't work for me either, but I DID sit there smiling, wondering how much better of a place the world would be if every time we sighed and went to find out more details about something horrible a man did, the link took us to a feminist country song instead.
I am doing so well! My Twitter vacay has been good. We do have an aggressive bear up near the cabin, so I am carrying bear spray and keeping Sansa on-leash even in the woods.
The "Madam Ram" article was a great read! Columbo went to the murdered football owner well twice, but only the episode that aired after Georgia took over featured a murderous wife. And Murder She Wrote had an episode where a cheery quasi-widow who is living in Vegas to get a divorce inherits her former husband's share of a football team (she didn't do it.) It's hard to think they both weren't inspired by Georgia Frontiere!
I was fascinated to learn recently, that "baby talk" or "parentese" is universal across languages, and may actually be important for language development!
The basketball injury article you shared really clicked with me as a former (very bad) ballet dancer. I started late, in middle school, and danced all through college, but I knew dancers who had major surgery in high school. It's sad that this mentality has made it's way to athletics. I guess one relief is that balance in extra-curriculars is the answer, which is health for everyone as people transition to adulthood, it might make it easier to find less demanding hobbies. Dance has a culture of pain, which is odd from the outside, but for me was completely addictive, and led me to ignore rest and injuries.
Oh, Nicole, since you are not on Twitter, I have nowhere to go see if anyone else is agitated by the thank you note letter in Care and Feeding. I'm not a Twitter yeller usually (just as on The Toast, I am much more a lurker), but I would be very gratified to know if someone else is yelling about it somewhere. Despite how petty the situation is in relation to other questions you've handled and despite how out of proportion my level of irritation is, my hackles could not be more up, my hide could not be more chapped, etc., than by the tone and content of that question.
That Rams story is amazing and I am SO ready for football season! Also, if any journalist wants to delve into a currently-happening version of that I am *dying* to read a longform about Tom and Gayle Benson. FWIW I hear that Gayle is absolutely lovely. https://www.nola.com/news/courts/article_c1da7aa5-fdc2-5ea5-aa31-22f826369465.html
The first link goes to the video for Did I Shave My Legs For This, which is delightful, but not the article it was supposed to be.
My bad! It won’t get fixed in the emails, so: https://slate.com/human-interest/2019/07/yelling-boys-baby-voice-care-and-feeding.html
No, that link worked! It was the link to the article about Dershowitz.
I think it's this? https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2019/08/05/alan-dershowitz-devils-advocate
it is! someone emailed me that it was the parenting link that was wrong!
Huh. That one looked just fine to me! Thanks, as always for today's newsletter. It gives me something great to start my morning with!

Nicole, how are you doing?? As a millennial I am conditioned to read periods at the ends of phrases as signs of unhappiness.

There is never enough Sansa content!
would read a 100% Sansa-centric newsletter, not going to lie.

Sansaaaa! 😄❤ She just grows more and more beautiful, doesn't she? 😍
I'm extremely late with this but did you just thank yourself and your pet? Ah. (Loved seeing Sansa, she's great. LET ME GET MY CAT ON THERE.)
I hope it’s not weird that I would die for Sansa because she is perfect

How does one submit a featured pet?
