I am not handling the loss of Bill Withers well, love to Bill Withers and those who loved him:
Another personal fav:
Seems apt:
I enjoy Bruno’s energy:
This is my personal pump-up song, even (especially?) as it becomes Increasingly Deranged:
Try not to have emotions:
My niche Johnny Cash all-timer is so fun to try to sing:
There are no bad songs in “A Chorus Line” but this one is one of my faves (if you haven’t seen the documentary about casting the Broadway revival, it’s incredible, and also Marvin “EGOT” Hamlisch talks about how the song used to be called “Tits and Ass” and it gave the joke away and no one laughed, and once they changed it to “Dance: Ten, Looks: Three”, people fell over themselves laughing:
Judith Hill, a genius:
Two great songs about best friends, very different:
Let’s end on this one:
my favorite bill withers song is "lovely day," which for me gets at a lot of feelings that i find are very true and important and always makes me cry, but with joy.
we saw emma. (2020) last night and had a really fun time! you should see it-- it sits kind of in the venn diagram center between marie antoinette and pride & predjudice (2006). it's obvious what they're cribbing from, but i'm not mad because the movie is like opening a big box of easter candy. also it's impeccably cast and it's clear that every man in it is having a great time playing the three types of dude who are in austen (chillers, haters, and romantic interest). if you are looking for something bright and fun to watch right now, it's great.
Just wanted to let you know that this post didn't make it into my gmail's inbox or promotions where it usually landed; in case you were wondering where we all went. I hope your weekend is filled with sweet cherub children doing silly, silly things.
