Somehow I wasn't aware of Delia Owens or that novel but BARF. White women writing dialect in this day and age???? I would say I am embarrassed for her but she probably is too self absorbed to care. So instead I will say that as a southern native, I am deeply embarrassed by her and that Reese Witherspoon endorsed this book further complicates my already complicated feelings about her as well.
Oh god, that Sundays story. I saw them in concert in ‘92 in Austin and a guy jumped up on stage and kissed the lead singer on the cheek. One of those things that seem sweet of a little odd at the time but feels worse as years go by. The lead singer was really pretty and I’m sure that was at the milder end of the unwanted attention she got. Because a giant university is still a small town, I had mutual friends with that guy and we dated a bit. I hope he looks back at that kiss and regrets it, but I doubt it.
